Absurd theatre upon the hill

Well, our first foray into summer theatre was pretty fun...
not so much theatre activity as hanging out... some time spent wondering if we had enough people to jump into games. I'll plan a bit more, and hopefully we'll continue to have a couple people or more show up!

New location and time:
sledding hill by the North parking lot at the high school (inside the Little Theatre if it rains or we feel like it...)
MONDAYS @ 7:00 p.m.

-- the time should better accomdate fun n friends and will avoid both tee ball games and Rhythm of the Rails rehearsals.

intended activities --
theatre games (works best with 5 or more)
improv
if we build scenes, we'll perform them at some point!
maybe some scene/play reading
hanging out
maybe some test drives of scripts/ideas for next year's theatre season
coffee drinking / snack consumption
tech help for Matt? (or at least organizing to meet another time to help out Matt!)
stargazing
nefarious plans to take over the universe

Hmmm. I have to warn work, but I should be able to make it tonight, seeing as I got back early and work won't schedule me.

I absolutely LOVE seeing you guys every week, and look forward to it the minute we leave the week before(what does that say about my social life?).

But I'm looking for some honest appraisal of our efforts thus far this summer. Although hanging out is definitely fun (and who knew I could still toss a spiral?), how do you guys want to split the balance between fun and theatre productivity? I've got all sorts of games/activities laid out already, but didn't feel like that matched the group tone last night on the hill. I want you guys to set the tone -- it is, after all, summer.

If I had to guess, my read is that Pat wants more theatre activity. I suspect that is true for some of the rest of you as well. Macky claims to just want to hang out. Should we push her some more? (we know you don't like that, Mac, but theatre games are good for you -- kind of like eating your vegetables in a fun way).

Obviously, we don't want to push so hard that we feel like we're working. And simply hanging out can be marvelous fun. On the other hand, I'm guessing you want to leave theatre gatherings with a sense of accomplishment. We don't want anyone feeling like they didn't get their money's worth or that gathering en masse is a waste of time.

I hereby open the feedback floodgates.

p.s. for some true "hanging out" activities, see our page on regional productions. Fieldtrip, anyone?

Just a note from me, Celina, and Amanda, we have Staff Meetings every other Monday at 6:30pm, so we'll only be able to make half of these, but thanks for thinking of us here at F 'n' F.
OK, now I'm done speaking for others.
I like theatre games to a point, if we can actually play them. I had some issues during the school year when some people wanted to do the games and some didn't, I think we need to agree on yes or no. I would like yes for about 1/3 of the time and free for 2/3, maybe 50-50. As you said, it is summer, and although keeping up on acting skills is important, I feel fun is more so. Love ya Alb!
